Stormwater management is one of the most regulated and technically complex aspects of commercial development in Greater Cincinnati. The region's municipalities have implemented increasingly stringent stormwater requirements, and executing the drainage infrastructure correctly — on time and to specification — is critical for project approval and long-term performance. Ground Co. executes commercial drainage and stormwater infrastructure throughout the region.

We work directly from civil engineer stormwater management plans to construct basins, install drainage systems, and establish the grades and channels that direct water where it needs to go. Our crews are experienced reading civil drainage plans, understanding basin grading to precise elevation tolerances, and coordinating with the structural components of stormwater systems — outlet structures, weirs, emergency spillways, and riser pipes.

Commercial detention and retention pond construction is a core service. We excavate and grade basins to design volumes and contours, work with your civil engineer on outlet structure placement, install rip-rap and other erosion protection per plan, and coordinate with contractors installing mechanical components.

Greater Cincinnati's annual rainfall — over 43 inches — combined with heavy clay subsoils creates significant stormwater management challenges for commercial development throughout Hamilton, Clermont, Warren, and Butler counties. Clay's low permeability means surface runoff is high, and basins need to be sized and built to handle peak flows from major storm events. We understand these regional hydrology conditions and how they factor into the drainage infrastructure we're building.

SWPPP erosion and sediment control is part of every commercial drainage project we touch. We install and maintain erosion controls throughout construction, and we document inspections as required under Ohio EPA Construction General Permit requirements. Stormwater inspections from local MS4 municipalities are increasingly common across Greater Cincinnati — having properly maintained controls isn't optional.
